Malaysian Police Found Guilty Shooting a Teenager in Seremban
On Wednesday in Seremban, a Malaysian police has been found guilty for shooting warning shot towards a teenager two years ago (2010) that resulted in injury. He was sentenced to a 6-months prison after Magistrate Nor Azlina Hashim decided that there was no solid, established proof for the accused Constable Mohd Hakimi Shamsul to shoot Mohd Azizi Azri Aziz.
Hakimi was accused accordance with Section 37 of the Arms Act 1960 that provides jail not more than 2 years or a fine no more than RM5,000 or both.

The accused, Mohd Hakimi, 21, was accused of shooting Mohd Azizi Azri, 20, without any valid reason till it caused injury to the victim, at Jalan Jelebu towards Pantai, Seremban on 3pm, 8 May 2010.
It all started in front of a shopping mall at Jalan Datuk Siamang Gagap, Seremban where a patrol car with 2 policemen in it including Mohd Hakimi was chasing a group of motorcyclists including Mohd Azizi Azri.
The motorcyclist group then split and the motorcycle that Mohd Azizi Azri was on was chased by the patrol car up to the location of the incident.
The police then fired several warning shots, but a shot from Mohd Hakimi’s gun hit Mohd Azizi Azri’s stomach who was then detained.

Param Sundram, Mohd Hakimi’s attorney pleaded the court with reasons the fault is the accused first’s and the accused was still young and just started working.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin on the other hand, pleaded the court to deliver justice where it should be for the accused didn’t have any valid reasons to shoot when all he wanted was just to stop the victim from fleeing. He also said that as a policeman, the accused should’ve used his knowledge and experience to stop the victim in other means and not by firing. What’s more the accused wasn’t threatened by the victim.
